During the grooming sessions I always aim to keep your fur babies as comfortable as possible. I always give them plenty of breaks and you’ll probably hear me chatting or sometimes singing to them to try to keep them calm. I never use muzzles because I like to groom as holistically as possible.
I do sometimes use a towel to place between the cat and myself or use an Elizabethan collar to prevent any bites to myself.
I have completed a diploma in feline behaviour, a pet first aid course and I’m DBS checked.
I offer full grooming sessions which includes claw clips, thorough comb through of the coat to remove the lose fur and dead undercoat, I clean the eyes and ears. I also offer lion clips, modified lion clip, spot shaving of mats and hygiene trims.
If you have a cat that is not used to grooming I also offer an introduction to grooming session which is a shorter session which is ideal for kittens or scared cats so they get used to the grooming equipment and whole process in a calm environment. Holistic grooming
I groom cats as holistically as I possibly can so the cat can gain trust in me which in turn makes them more comfortable and it becomes a positive experience.
What holistic cat grooming means to me?
To groom a cat without force, to not use restraints (such as muzzles or leads attached to grooming tables) and I do not scruff a cat.
I will using natural calming pheromone sprays or catnip/Valerian toys, yummy treats as to make it a positive experience, lots of calming chatting (cat whispering) plenty of breaks, I might use a towel as a barrier to protect myself from being bitten, groom on the floor if the cat is more comfortable there. Most of all I take my time and do not rush. I always work with the cat not against it which makes a more pleasurable experience for me, you and your cat!
